Is Work Stress Affecting My Health? You May Be Pushing Beyond Your Somatic Ceiling™

One late night doesn't cost you much. Neither does one demanding project, another product launch, or another quarter of carrying more responsibility than anyone realizes. The real cost of pushing beyond your Somatic Ceiling™ isn't visible in any single week. It's visible in the years.
If you've been wondering whether work stress is affecting your health, the answer is often found in the cumulative effect of months or years spent operating beyond your body's sustainable capacity.
The Cost That Accumulates Quietly
This is part of what makes it so easy to keep going. Nothing dramatic happens today because you stayed late again, or overprepared for another meeting that didn't need it. The cost of pushing beyond your limit builds slowly enough that it rarely feels urgent, right up until it does.
Work Stress Affecting My Health: What the Research Shows
A recent state-of-the-art review published by the American College of Cardiology examined the relationship between psychosocial stress and cardiovascular disease specifically in women. It found that chronic activation of the body's stress response can predispose people to cardiometabolic disease over time, and that women may experience more pronounced physiological consequences of sustained stress than men, partly due to differences in how women's bodies respond to social and psychological pressure.
This isn't intended to alarm you. It's intended to make something visible that often stays invisible: the body continues accumulating the physiological cost, even when nothing feels acutely wrong.
Beyond the Physical Cost
The cost isn't only physical. Years of operating above your Somatic Ceiling™ tend to show up in relationships that no longer receive the attention they deserve, in achievements that don't quite land the way they used to, and in a growing, quiet suspicion that something will eventually have to give, your health, your career, or the parts of yourself you've been holding together to keep going.
This Isn't Inevitable
None of this is presented as an inevitable trade-off for success. It's simply what tends to happen when protective survival patterns keep running unaddressed for years, because the body was never designed to sustain constant vigilance indefinitely.
The earlier this gets addressed, the more choice you retain over how your success story continues in your career without affecting your health or relationship.
The Choice Point
You don't have to wait for a health scare, burnout or a crisis before asking whether the way you've achieved success is still serving you.
The Protected to Powerful™ Workshop is designed for exactly this moment, before the cumulative cost begins shaping your health, your career, or the way you experience the success you've worked so hard to build.
If you've recognized yourself in this article, the next step isn't simply to understand the pattern. It's to explore why it develops, why it can be so difficult to change through willpower or insight alone, and what becomes possible when the protective survival patterns beneath it are finally addressed.
